Skye is a produced WGA writer, TV/Film writer, university prof, doc prod-writer, video game writer, novelist and journalist.
She's the kind of practicing professor that is in such great demand these days. Not many professors can claim to have taught full time at the University of North Carolina, have written for science fiction series, and have co-created a CDC safe sex video game. :) Her novel Killing Kin, loosely based on the murder of her teenage brother, was published in 2013.
She's a Black Choctaw Latina, the daughter of a Belizean immigran homemaker and a Mississippi born railroad cook who met on an escalator in New Orleans. As a journalist, she broke ceilings by being the youngest edit writer in the country. As a TV writer, she reached heights by creating an alien race that became recurring chars on Star Trek Voyager, being on the writing staff of The Burning Zone, and writing a movie for Showtime. Her 2014 screenplay Ex Appeal was a Sundance semi-finalist, an achievement that resulted in the attachment of director Michael Cuesta.
